About Chennai Super Kings:

Chennai Super Kings is one of the eight franchises of Indian Premier League which is based on Chennai city. Its is captained by none other than Mahendra Singh Dhoni who also happens to be captain of Indian national team in all three formats of game. Stephen Fleming who was part of this team as a player in 2008 edition turned into the team's coach. The M. A. Chidambaram Stadium (Chepauk) is the Super King's home ground.


Chennai Super Kings is currently owned by India Cements with N. Srinivasan acting as a defacto owner. The team was bought by franchise for USD $91 Million. K Srikkanth , who is also chief of selectors of Indian national team is brand ambassador of the team at present.

The team has a great start to thier season when won they won four games on a trot but their top order and bowling attack had a setback after Mathew Hayden , Micheal Hussey and Jacob Oram left the team for international fixtures of their respective countries. It was clearly visible in team's performance as they lost their next three back to back games. The batting although got used to the losses of Hayden and Hussey with good performances from performances of Dhoni , Raina and Morkel. The absence of Oram’s from bowling lineup was eventually filled by the arrival of Makaya Ntini and Albie Morkel and the emergence of Manpreet Gony on big scene .
A win in the final league match against the Deccan Chargers confirmed their seat in semi-finals. It defeated Kings XI Punjab in the semifinal by huge margin of 9 wickets. They lost in the final to Rajasthan Royals by three wickets when Sohail Tanveer took single required off the last delivery.
